Our business is to design and manufacture
waste containers that effectively and sustainably serve
as a barrier to the radioactivity in nuclear waste, now
and in the future.
Our mission is to help nuclear operators
protect the environment for present and future generations
by providing them with a container whose integrity is
recognized as lasting for 300 years.
Protecting people and the
environment
The leading
requirement for the nuclear industry has always been to protect
people and the environment from radioactive and chemical contaminants.
Storing and disposing of radioactive waste is a challenging
aspect of this requirement.
Sogefibre’s fiber-reinforced concrete
container meets the most stringent requirements of the nuclear
industry and offers a solution for low - and medium - level waste
storage and disposal.
Bringing certified quality
Sogefibre
has ISO 9002 certification for the manufacture
and sale of fiber-reinforced concrete containers used for
nuclear waste packaging.
Its containers have also been certified by the
French national radioactive waste management agency, ANDRA.
Ensuring quality control
at every stage of production
Production activities
must meet the quality standards of the nuclear industry, which
are some of the most stringent in the industrial world. Close
to 150 parameters are checked and tested for each container,
including:
raw materials;
fresh and hardened concrete performance;
container manufacturing operations;
the inspections during manufacturing and
on finished product;
transportation and delivery conditions;
conformity file.
Ensuring containment and durability
Sogefibre's technology for concrete reinforcement with metal fibers has met the dual requirements of containment and durability through two basic properties:
its outstanding ability to withstand the elements and other external forces for 300 years, and
its high containment capacity
This technology combines the advances made in the prefabricated concrete industrie and in the nuclear industry.
Innovation: improve our products for better performance.
Sogefibre closely monitors trends in the concrete industry in order to adapt recent innovations to the fabrication of disposal containers.
Backed by operating experience acquired since 1990 with:
the production of more than 45,000 containers,
product designs that match customer requirements,
laboratory development and prototype scale-up,
Sogefibre views innovation as a major asset in serving our customers.
