SOGEFIBRE, THE FIBER-REINFORCED CONCRETE CONTAINER SPECIALIST

Founded in 1990, Sogefibre is a subsidiary of SGN, itself a subsidiary of AREVA NC, a member of the AREVA GROUP.
Container design and manufacture
Sogefibre designs and manufactures fiber-reinforced concrete containers for low- and medium-level radioactive waste. Its highly automated plant in Valognes, Normandy, produces two basic containers, one cylindrical, the other cubical. The plant production capacity is 12,000 containers per year.
Additional products
Sogefibre also offers:
pre-measured, ready-to-use batches of fiber-reinforced concrete to seal the containers; and
dry batches to make concrete or grout to immobilize waste in the containers.
Engineering services
Sogefibre also offers engineering services for:
special container design, prototype fabrication and qualification testing;
design and manufacture of container fabrication systems;
development of concrete formulations based on local constituents;
production start-up support; and
manufacturing and marketing sub-licenses.
